Founding member, Larry Kovarik, who is the singer, songwriter, guitarist of ALARKO, created the name from the first parts of his first and last name to create a truly unique rock band name all its own. Kovarik, who has been writing songs for over 30 years, has finally found himself as a songwriter and a lead singer of his own music.  After years of playing local cover music in his hometown of Cedar Rapids, IA, and learning so many different styles and songs over the years, that for sure has contributed to his uber diverse songwriting style, Kovarik's influences are literally too many to acknowledge, but Lenny Kravitz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jude Cole and Linkin Park are just a few of the prominent musical influences. Kovarik believes in his creative freedoms to write whatever it is he hears in his head at any given moment.  Having no "creative chains" or "boxes" when writing is at the core of his artistry. Kovarik writes uber diverse rock music influenced by Rock, R&B, Rap, Pop and Funk. What initially felt like was going to be a “Solo” artist project all changed one night while Larry was out to see fellow musician friends of a local band called Mt. Rockmore. Little did anybody know, but that night a by chance conversation with Bassist, Wayne Moore, about songwriting quickly turned into a collaboration partnership.  Shortly after that night Larry invited Wayne over to record on one of his many songs that he had been working on.  Up until that point, Larry had been creating and playing the bass parts himself. Just one song is all it took for Kovarik to realize that sometimes “Moore” is better!  It was quite apparent what Wayne could bring to the collaboration effect of writing music with a trusted partner, so Kovarik invited Moore to be part of the ALARKO project. Kovarik states, “As of 2024, ALARKO is a dual songwriting partnership that spawns good rock music that will take you on a musical journey.  If the music speaks and it turns into something more than that, then that would be fabulous.  Until then, we are going to continue to write and release music.”
